Reply all, regret all
Hi Sam, it's Elif, quick voice note. This morning I wrote a draft email to the whole team about the Friday quiz. The subject line said 'Quiz on Firday'. A typo! I fixed it and put Dave in the cc, because he's the quiz master.
Then I wrote a second email, just for you, about our boss's terrible new tie. I said it looks like a sad carpet. But I was in a hurry, and I pressed reply all. Sixty people got it. Even the boss.
I sat there for ten minutes, feeling sick. Then Mr Hughes answered: 'A sad carpet? Brilliant. My wife says the same.' Now I run every quiz. Ring me later, mate. Cheers!

Then I wrote a second email, just for you, about our boss's awful new tie. I said it looks like a sad rug. But I was in a rush, and I hit reply all. Sixty people got it. Even the boss.

Three thousand unread
Jess, are you in? I'm in the kitchen with my laptop. My inbox has three thousand unread emails. Three thousand! Half of them are spam. This one says I won a holiday in Peru. It ends with 'Kind regards, Mr Lucky'. I don't think Mr Lucky is my friend.
I tried to clean it up. I deleted two hundred emails. Then I saw a reminder from the dentist. My appointment was yesterday. Typical! I'll ring them in the morning.
Wait, there's one more in the spam folder. It's from a company called Brightside. 'We would like to invite you for an interview.' Jess, that's my dream job! It's next Tuesday. Come here, quick. I need a tea and a hug.

Two meetings, one me
Tom, have you got a minute? I'm in trouble. I'm double-booked on Thursday at ten. The marketing meeting and the budget meeting are at the same time. I got both calendar invites this morning and I said yes to both. Silly me.
Could you reschedule the budget meeting? Maybe to Friday? No? You hate Fridays, I remember. Then let's postpone it to next week. Really? That works for you? Brilliant. I'll send a new calendar invite now.
Hang on, my phone is buzzing. It's the boss. 'Both meetings are off. The air conditioning is broken and it's thirty degrees in here.' Ha! So I'm not double-booked, I'm free. Tom, fancy a coffee somewhere cold?

Oops, that's my shopping
Good morning, Mr Walker. Can you hear me? You can't? Oh, I'm on mute. Let me unmute. Sorry about that. Is that better? Great.
Right, I'll share my screen now and show you the new design. Can you see it? Hmm, you say it's all trainers? Oh no. That's my online shopping basket. Sorry! I'll close that tab. It was only a small basket, honestly.
Now the right slide. Oh, my screen is starting to freeze. Mr Walker? Are you there? Okay, I'm back. Before we go on, let's check we're on the same page. Blue or green? Green? Perfect. That was easy. And my trainers arrive on Friday.

The website is down
Hello, Ravi? It's Dilan from the bakery. My website is down and I have forty cake orders today. Can you look into it, please? I need it fixed as soon as possible.
Yes, I'll wait. You found the problem? Good. Could you send over the invoice too? Thank you. And please keep me in the loop. Text me every hour, okay? I'm making wedding cakes, and I can't read emails with sugar on my hands.
Hold on, Ravi. My assistant is shouting something. What? The router was unplugged? Because you needed the socket for the mixer? Oh, Kemal! Ravi, forget it. It's working. I'll send you a cake, mate.

The tuna sandwich mystery
Right, everyone, let me sum up. We've got five minutes left and a long list. Sara, you're doing the new poster. Ben, you're ringing the printer. Priya, you're booking the room for Friday. Is that clear? Good.
Joe, you wanted to bring up something about the kitchen, didn't you? Go on. The fridge? Oh dear. A tuna sandwich has been in there since Monday, and the whole floor can smell it. Joe says it's the worst smell in the building. Nobody says a word. Ben looks at his shoes.
Okay, next steps. Ben, you're taking that sandwich out today. No, I'm not joking. Then you're buying biscuits for the whole team. What? It's your sandwich? Honest at last. Cheers, Ben. Meeting over!
