Mehmet the hamster
Mum, please, please, can we get a pet? I know you said no to a dog. But a hamster is tiny! He only needs a cage and some seeds. And my sister wants a goldfish. She'll buy the tank with her own money.
You said yes?! Thank you, thank you! We named the hamster Mehmet. He's brown and white, and he is very fast. Ten minutes after we got home, Mehmet escaped from the cage.
We looked in the kitchen, in the living room, under the sofa. At last Dad found him. Mehmet was sleeping in his slipper. Dad says we can keep our new pet, but Mehmet must stay out of his slippers.

Max walks me
Morning, Max! Where's your lead? Oh, you're sitting on it. Clever boy. Come on, let's go.
My job is to take the dog for a walk twice a day. Max is a big golden dog, and he's very friendly. He doesn't bark at people, only at squirrels. And pigeons. And sometimes at the wind.
Good boy, Max! Wait for me! No! Max, slow down! He walks fast, and I walk slowly. Honestly, I'm not taking him for a walk. He's taking me. Excuse me, madam, sorry! Max, stop! We're going to be late for the bakery!

Biscuit sends an email
Nia, you won't believe my week. I got a kitten on Saturday! Her name is Biscuit. She's tiny, with a white nose, and she purrs like a little engine. Every night she sleeps on my pillow.
But she scratches everything! The sofa, the curtains, my jeans, my leg. I bought a scratching post, but she ignores it. Also, I'm scared that she will run away when I open the window, so I check it ten times a day.
Now the best part. Yesterday I left my laptop open while I made tea. Biscuit walked over the keys and sent an email to my boss. It said, "jjjjjjjjj". My boss replied: "Is this a cat?"

Grandad's farm
Hi Dad! Yes, I'm fine. The farm is amazing. Grandad woke me up at six, and I wasn't angry, because everything looks beautiful in the morning. There are forty sheep on the hill. Forty! One of them looks at me every day like I owe her money.
Today I helped Grandad clean out the stable. It was hard work, and it smelled terrible, but I did it. The horse, Bella, watched me the whole time. I think she likes me.
Oh, one more thing. I wore your old blue hat. Please don't be angry. Bella ate it. Grandad says it's a compliment.

Luna's first weekend
Tom, thank you so much for helping. This is Luna. We adopted her from a shelter two weeks ago, and she's a puppy, so she's full of energy.
Please keep an eye on her. She chews shoes, cables and sometimes the carpet. Every two hours, please let out the puppy into the garden, and say "Good girl" when she goes to the toilet outside. She loves that. She also loves your sofa, so close the living room door.
Last thing: if Luna is very quiet, that's bad. It means she's eating something. Don't worry, I'm joking. Mostly. Oh, and please hide your trainers.
