Hungry, late and hopeful
Lena, look at this! There's a vacancy at the bike shop on Mill Road. Weekends only. I want to apply for it. But first I need a new CV. My old one is from 2019, and it says my email is bigburak99. Oh dear.
Help me, please. You write the cover letter and I'll do the application form. It asks for three words about me. I wrote 'hungry, late and hopeful'. Lena, stop laughing! It's true.
Okay, okay. I'll write 'friendly, quick and good with bikes'. Better? And please check my CV for typos. Last time I wrote 'I am a team plater'.

Gerald the plant
Good morning, Mr Patel. Thank you for the interview. Yes, I'm a bit nervous. No, I haven't got any qualifications in hotels. But I did a customer service course, and I worked in a café for two years.
'Tell me about yourself.' Okay. I'm twenty-four, I live in Leeds, and I love people. I also have a cat called Pickle and a plant called Gerald. Sorry, that was too much, wasn't it?
My reference? My old boss, Mrs Kaya. Here's her number. She'll say I'm always on time. She won't say I once dropped forty cups. Oh. I just said it. Can we start again?

Shouting on the top deck
Dan, you won't believe this. Last week I saw a job ad for a delivery driver at Greenfield Foods, and I sent my CV just for fun. Today a recruiter called me. Her name is Hannah. I was on the bus, so I said 'Hello?' very loudly.
She said the company wants to hire two drivers. They want to shortlist six people, and I'm one of the six! I shouted 'Yes!' and the whole top deck looked at me. An old lady moved to another seat. I think she was scared.
Anyway, my interview is on Monday. Don't tell Mum yet. Actually, tell her. She'll make a cake. Cheers, mate.

Did you check your junk folder?
Hello, is that Mrs Clarke? It's Ece Demir. I want to send in my application for the café job again, because I'm still waiting to hear back. Did you get my first one two weeks ago?
Oh, you emailed me last Tuesday? To my old address? Ha, that's my fault. I'll check it now. Oh! 'We would like to offer you the job.' Wonderful!
I'm available from Monday. But I have to be honest. Another café offered me a job yesterday, and I'm going to decline their offer. Their coffee tastes like soup. Yours is much better. See you on Monday!

Three little sisters
Good afternoon, Ms Green. Yes, I'm here for the internship at Radio Kent. No, I didn't bring tea. Sorry, that's a joke. I'm nervous, so I make jokes.
'Why do you want this job?' Easy. I love radio. When I was nine, I recorded my family at dinner and played it back at breakfast. Nobody was happy, but I loved it. 'Can you deal with difficult people?' Yes. I have three little sisters.
Thank you for your time, Ms Green. Fingers crossed! I'll be waiting by the phone. Well, near the phone. Well, in the kitchen.
