White trainers, big mistake
On Sunday, Rosa and Ian walk along a footpath above the valley. It's a beautiful day. The sky is blue, and the cows look happy.
Then the path gets steep, and it's very muddy. Rosa is wearing her wellies, because she always checks the weather. Ian is wearing his new white trainers, because he never does.
"It's fine," he says, and falls over on the first hill. He stands up. His trousers are brown, and his trainers are brown too. Rosa tries not to laugh, but she can't. At the top, he looks down at the valley and says, "OK, the view is worth it." Rosa says, "Next time, wellies." He says, "Next time, sandals."

No Wi-Fi at Gwen's farm
My friend Gwen lives on a farm in Wales, and I'm staying for the weekend. It's in the middle of nowhere. The nearest shop is eleven miles away, and there's no Wi-Fi. I checked my phone nine times before breakfast.
Gwen says, "Look around! There's a forest behind the house, and the wildlife is amazing. Yesterday I saw a deer!" She's right. It's beautiful and very quiet.
Then a hundred sheep walk past the kitchen window. One of them stops and looks at me. Gwen says, "She wants your toast." I give her my toast. A city girl, a Welsh sheep, and one very good breakfast.

The tent that wasn't a tent
We arrive at the campsite at six, and my dad says, "Anyone can pitch a tent in ten minutes." That was two hours ago. He's watching a video on his phone, and the tent looks like a big green bag with arms.
Finally it stands up! We put our sleeping bags inside, and my sister Duygu makes a campfire. Then she gives everybody a marshmallow on a stick.
Mine catches fire. Dad's catches fire. Only Duygu makes a perfect one, light brown and soft. She says, "Practice." Then the wind blows, and our tent walks slowly across the field. Dad runs after it in his socks.

Midges, maps and a waterfall
We set off at eight for a hike in the Scottish Highlands. My cousin Ross says, "Did you bring the insect repellent?" I say, "Why?" He says, "Midges." Two minutes later, I understand. They are tiny, and there are thousands of them. They love me.
Then we get lost. The map says left, my phone says right, and Ross says, "Trust me." Nobody trusts Ross.
After an hour, we find a path by accident, and at the end of it there's a waterfall. It's loud, white and beautiful. We forget about the midges for five whole minutes. Then they find us again.

A cow on the wrong side
Mehmet works in London, and he's tired. His friend Dan says, "You need to get away. Come to my cottage in the countryside. It's lovely and quiet." So on Friday evening Mehmet takes the train with one plan: sleep.
On Saturday morning he goes for a walk with a cup of tea. The fields are green, and the air is fresh. Then he sees a brown cow standing in the garden. There's a fence, but the cow is on the wrong side of it.
"Dan!" he shouts. "There's a cow in your garden!" Dan comes out in his pyjamas, looks at her and says, "That's Daisy. She lives next door. She visits every Saturday." Mehmet laughs. "Lovely. Can I stay another night?"
